Preparing for a Behavioural Session
Preparing for a Behavioural Session:
Communication isn’t mind control, you cannot change the personality of an animal, and sometimes I may not be able to “fix” the issues. If the animal does not want to change, or see no need or reason to change their behaviour, then they won’t. It is also important to note that if you are asking an animal to change, then you also must be willing to make changes. Animals can also not be forced to do something that they do not want to to. Just like humans, so cases will need long term behavioural care - some behaviours can simply not be fixed in a short period of time.
Once I am ready to start with the communication, I will start asking the animal various questions about the current situation. I also do a Body Scan on the animal in order to see if I can pick up any health issues or pain in certain areas of the body BUT I might not always be able to pick up on all problems.
I assist in offering insight, guidance and clarity to aid in resolving problems between animals and their humans. They will always do what makes sense to them through their viewpoint that comes from their experiences, education and background, and I am there to relay this viewpoint and try to come up with a resolution. Sometimes the problem isn’t with them, it can be you, your family, the situation, management, genetics, diet, background, breeding, etc.
What to expect after the Behavioural Consult:
Changes in behaviour may occur - this is normal - sometimes there are mild to drastic changes - and even though 98% of the time these changes are for the better, there have been instances where things have completely changed to a point that it becomes bad behaviour. I need to be made aware of these type of changes immediately. This often happens in multi-animal households because dynamics may shift according to the parent's behavioural modification request.
Communication isn’t mind control, you cannot change the personality of an animal, and sometimes I may not be able to “fix” the problem, especially If the animal does not want to change or see no need or reason to change their behaviour that they can agree with, then they won’t. It is also important to note that if you are asking an animal to change, then you also must be willing to make changes.
Some behavioural problems may not be solved immediately, and will need more than one session.
Please note that the daily updates need to be sent through by the parent for the 5 days after the main behavioural consult. Daily updates will not be requested by me, the parent must send these updates through - whether it be positive or negative.
